1969 Buffalo Narrows SK – 7 murder victims

January 30th, 1969 – Frederick Moses McCallum, 19, punched through the Pederson’s door and murdered the Pederson family with an axe while they slept in their beds.

The victims included a mother, father, two girls, two boys and a family friend. A 7-year-old boy was the sole survivor.

  • Grace Ann Pederson, 8, daughter of Thomas and Bernadette Pederson
  • Robert Thomas Pederson, 5, son of Thomas and Bernadette Pederson
  • Richard Daniel Pederson, 4, son of Thomas and Bernadette Pederson
  • Rhoda Beatrice Pederson, 2, daughter of Thomas and Bernadette Pederson
  • John Baptiste Herman, 48

Wounded was Fred Donald Pederson, 7.

McCallum was later found drinking tea in a home According to Cpl Jack Fraser he told the teen he was under arrest when McCallum replied “sure I killed them, so what” McCallum then proceeded to tell Fraser that three were still alive. (not the case)

On the way to the police station he told police That he hopes he gets the electric chair.

He was later diagnosed with schizophrenia and found not guilty by reason of insanity.
