It’s reported that they appeared to have died from stab wounds to the neck.

Quintana Roo Attorney General Óscar Montes de Oca told Diario de Yucatan that cops found sophisticated technology in the condo.

Prosecutors told state media that Huppé was on an Interpol wanted list for fraud charges.

Court records reveal that an arrest warrant was issued after he didn’t show up to court in Montreal in 2016 regarding a 2014 case, The Province reported.

Canadian cops filed 15 criminal charges, including five counts of fraud.

A second fraud case was brought against Huppé in 2015.

Huppé reportedly used at least three different types of identification, prosecutors said.

Cops said his immigration status was “irregular”, according to Diario de Yucatan.

Tributes have been paid to Lorrain online.

The Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office revealed that a security guard was injured.

It comes after Spring Breakers were warned against traveling to Mexico’s popular Caribbean beach resorts over fears they could be killed in the crossfire of a raging drug cartel turf war.

Riviera Maya destinations such as Playa del Carmen, Cancún, and Tulum have been hit in recent times by a spate of brutal murders as gangs wrestle to control the booming drug trade.

In March, sanitation workers reportedly discovered the dismembered remains of four adult males at Villas del Sol in Playa del Carmen.

British businessman Chris Cleave, 54, was gunned down and killed execution-style in front of his 14-year-old daughter near Playa del Carmen.

And in January the manager of a trendy beach club was found dead just five days after two Canadian citizens were killed in a shootout at a Playa del Carmen hotel.

Fraud cases were brought against Huppé in 2015 by Canadian authorities.

Prosecutors said the killing of the two Canadians was motivated by gang debts.

Both victims had criminal records relating to robbery, drug, and weapon offenses, cops said.

Montes said: “The information (is) that they were involved in weapons and drug trafficking, among other crimes.”

Robert Almonte, a former US Marshall for the Western District of Texas warned that the tourist resorts are currently a war zone.

Mr. Almonte, who is an expert on drug cartels, told The Sun: “It is not safe to go to the resorts.

“Tourists are not going to be specifically targeted but the concern is that they become collateral damage.

“The cartels are not very careful about how they kill.”
