From the shadows, he, along with other conspirators, plans the downfall of the Spanish Republic, and with the support of German and Italian fascist allies, he succeeds in seizing power in 1939.

However, Franco’s personal triumph is not without losses, as thousands lose their lives in a multi-year civil war in Spain.
