11 Most Evil People to Ever Walk the Earth

silhouette-man-knife-image www.crimefiles.net

.

Ever since the beginning of time, evil has existed. History is full with tales of wicked people who’ve committed unspeakable crimes, even children. They’ve lived among us, and some still do — continuing to lure in their victims with charming and deceptive tactics.

Their crimes are beyond comprehension.

But for some strange reason, society has forever been fascinated with the lives of these sadistic individuals. What motivates someone to slaughter millions of people, or consume a person’s rotting corpse?

“We serial killers are your sons, we are your husbands, we are everywhere. And there will be more of your children dead tomorrow,” said serial killer Ted Bundy.

There have seriously been so many cases that we can’t mention them all in one article. So, we were forced to narrow it down to just 10. But after hearing the atrocious crimes these people committed, we think 10 is far more than enough. We’ve included infamous dictators who had absolutely zero regard for others’ safety or welfare, including their own citizens, as well as the most prolific serial killers of the 19th and 20th century.

Jim Jones
Leader of the Peoples Temple, Jim Jones is responsible for the Jonestown Massacre, which had a death toll of approximately 918 people.

John Wayne Gacy
He murdered 33 teenage boys and young men between 1972 and 1978 in Chicago, Illinois.

Pol Pot
He is responsible for killing over two million of his own people (nearly 25 percent) as leader of the Cambodian Communist Movement.

Stalin
According to most estimates, Stalin is responsible for at least 20 million deaths. Whether from executions, deliberate famine, or gulags (Soviet concentration camps), this ruler had no regard for others’ safety or welfare.

Ted Bundy
It is estimated that he killed anywhere from 40 to 100 women. He would would stun them with a blunt object, drag them to a discrete location, strangle them and then rape their corpses.

Adolf Hitler
Hitler is the most-widely known mass murderer and dictator to ever live. If you aren’t aware of the crimes against humanity he committed, you probably need to open up a history book.

Mathieu Ngirumpatse
Ngirumpatse was president of the Hutu extremist National Revolutionary Movement for Democracy and Development. He is one of the individuals responsible for the slaughter of some 800,000 people during the 1994 Rwandan genocide.

Dr. Harold Fredrick Shipman
As a trusted doctor, this guy purposely injected his patients with fatal doses of diamorphine (an opiate), causing their deaths. He then proceeded to forge their wills and inherit all of their money. In addition, he also completed cremation requests to hide the evidence.

Dr. Josef Mengele
Called the “Angel of Death,” Mengele is infamous for using young children and pregnant women for cruel medical experiments in Auschwitz during Hitler’s reign.

Jeffrey Dahmer
This American serial killer and sex offender raped, murdered and dismembered 17 boys and men between 1978 and 1991. His later murders involved cannibalism and necrophilia.

Mao Zedong
This Chinese Communist revolutionary’s faulty economics created a horrific famine, which killed about 30 million people during 1959-1962.

Albert Fish: The Terrifying Real-Life Boogeyman

You’ve Never Heard Of (He Ate Children)

If anyone’s ever told you that the boogeyman wasn’t real, they were lying. The boogeyman isn’t just an urban legend, or that “thing” your mother warned you about as a child to deter you from coming home after the street lights went on, he was a very real man, and his name was Hamilton Howard “Albert” Fish.

Albert-Fish-image child killer & cannibal www.crimefiles.net

When you envision the boogeyman, you probably think of someone sinister-looking roaming the streets late at night, or even during broad daylight, snatching up children and doing the unthinkable to them. Well, that’s exactly what Fish, who was also nicknamed the Brooklyn Vampire, the Gray Man, the Moon Manic and the Werewolf of Wysteria, did. The only difference here is that his appearance was unassuming, like that of a sweet, harmless grandfather whose lap you’d sit on for story time. It’s how he was able to escape detection for so long.

This assumption couldn’t have been further from the truth.

To say Fish was one of the most monstrous people who ever walked the earth would be an understatement. He committed murders so horrific that police initially couldn’t believe the details of his confessions.

Fish was born in 1870 in Washington, D.C., to a family who had a long history of serious mental illness. To put it lightly, their disorders could have filled an entire medical textbook. Fish himself was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, which is a chronic condition requiring lifelong treatment for the delusions, disordered thinking and behavior, and abnormal interpretations of reality that accompany it. Needless to say, Fish never received any treatment.

But the real story began when Fish’s father, who was a Potomac River boat captain, died in 1875. At that time, he was only five-years-old, far from capable of grappling with the effects of losing a parent. Sadly, that same year, his mother abandoned him, dropping him off to live in St. John’s Orphanage, located in D.C.’s Foggy Bottom neighborhood.

This is where psychologists believe the demons inside Fish began to awaken. At the orphanage, he was beaten and whipped daily; to the point that after suffering from the abuse for four straight years, he actually began to enjoy it. When he was nine-years-old, his distraught mother showed up and brought him back into her custody. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done and could not be reversed.

His time spent at the orphanage was a defining moment in his life, especially considering the appalling torture he experienced as a child is the common factor in the backgrounds of the majority of serial killers.

“While there, he was subjected to all manners of physical and sexual abuse and humiliation and torture, which completely warped his personality out of shape. It turned him into the kind of monstrous being that he was,” says Harold Schechter, a professor of American Literature at Queens College, City University of New York and author of Deranged: The Shocking True Story of America’s Most Fiendish Killer.

As a teenager, Fish started to display unusual and alarming behaviors, such as drinking urine and eating feces. In 1890, at the age of 20, he found pleasure in snatching young boys off the street in Manhattan, where he moved with his mother, and raping them. But this is just the beginning of a story most folks would just rather forget.

Two years later, after visiting a wax museum where he saw a penis divided into two equal parts, this “polymorphous pervert” became obsessed with sexual maiming. From that point, he began practicing even more deviations — from sadism to sodomy and even self-mutilation.

Surprisingly, in 1898, he was married and fathered six children. According to one of their testimonies during Fish’s trial, they lead average lives until their mother ran off with another man in 1917. That’s when Fish’s children recall his strange and unpredictable behavior surfacing — occasionally requesting them to join in on his sado-masochistic games, watching him eat large quantities of raw meat, proclaiming he was Christ, and collecting published material on cannibalism.

As time went on, the fantasies he performed on children grew more fiendish and horrifying, and often ended in murdering and cannibalizing his naive victims with his “instruments of hell.” These instruments were made up of a butcher knife, a meat cleaver and a hand saw. He was a real-life Hannibal Lecter as portrayed in Silence of the Lambs.

Fish’s first arrest was not for something you’d imagine from a wicked serial killer. In 1903, he was detained for theft, but released a short while later only to begin having hallucinations of the apostles commanding him.

For the next 27 years, he captured raped, murdered and ate countless innocent children. Although he only officially confessed to the murder of three people, he later claimed that during his 65 years as a free man to have hunted and killed more than a hundred “children in every state.” According to Fish, he preyed exclusively on children because they were “tasty.”

He was once quoted saying, “I never ate any roast turkey that tasted half as good.”

Fish flew under the radar for many years. It wasn’t until he murdered 10-year-old Grace Budd in 1928 that things started to take a turn. The investigation into this little girl’s disappearance went on for six years before detectives got a break into the puzzling case.

Then, on November, 11, 1934, Grace’s grieving mother received an anonymous letter detailing the horrors he committed.

“Grace sat in my lap and kissed me,” the letter said. “I made up my mind to eat her. I choked her to death, then cut her in small pieces so I could take my meat to my rooms. Cook and eat it.”

As if to offer some sort of consolation, Fish told her that Grace had not been sexually assaulted, just killed and eaten.

Police were able to trace the paper Fish wrote the letter on back to his residence, where he immediately began confessing to killing the young girl, as well as the others.

According to his captors, Fish probably started murdering people as far back as 1910.

He was eventually convicted and sentenced to death by electrocution, something he was rumored to be very excited about.

On January 16, 1936, he was executed, a death that came too late for his victims.

To this day, Fish is considered one of the most deranged and wicked serial killers in American history.

Undoubtedly, he was the living manifestation of every parent and child in the world’s worst nightmare — worse than any boogeyman I’d ever heard of growing up. So, why haven’t more people heard about this evil soul?

“I think, partly, his crimes were so depraved and so hideous and so horrendous that the general public doesn’t want to really hear too many details about him,” says Schechter. “Obviously, the Boogeyman is a mythical figure, but if anybody, any real flesh and blood human comes close to actually embodying that myth, it’s Albert Fish.”

The papers from Fish’s psychiatrist, Fredric Wertham, are now available at the Library of Congress.

Ameer Abdullah, the chief of the local police force, says “Residents informed police after a stench emanated from the house of the two brothers. We raided the house on Monday morning and found the head of a young boy. We have arrested one of the brothers, Mohammad Arif, and are conducting raids for the arrest of the other brother.”

Police are also looking at local cemeteries to see if any other grave sites have been disturbed.

Fakhar Bhatti, who discovered the corpse of a 24-year-old woman at the brothers’ home a few years ago, says “In the middle of the room, I saw a cooking pot which was half full of meat curry. Nearby was a wooden board, a butcher’s axe, and a large kitchen knife. Bits of fat clung to the board and the blade of the axe. It still gives me the creeps; they had chopped off one of her legs below the knee, and the other near the shin. The rest of the body was intact. The curry was made from those parts.”

NEW YORK CITY—One day last summer, New York City police officer and accused cannibal-sex plotter Gilberto Valle typed this phrase into Google: sound you make with the knife before carving.

“That is not normal,” assistant U.S. attorney Randall Jackson tells a packed courtroom Thursday, as this troubling two-week trial draws to a close. In the government’s version of the facts, Valle had been working up “practical and strategic” plans to kidnap, rape, torture, kill, and eat several women, including his own wife. This Google search shows he was looking for audio clips of knives being sharpened, utensils clanking, or whatever else might serve to whet his violent appetite. “Officer Valle is a sexually sadistic individual,” Jackson concludes. “This is a man who is sick.”

But if Valle suffers from a mental illness, no one talks about a treatment. On Thursday, the jury in the Cannibal Cop case began its deliberations. If they choose to convict, the 28-year-old father may spend the rest of his life in prison. In the view of Jackson and his fellow prosecutor Hadassah Waxman, this would make the world a safer place. “That the women were not actually kidnapped is incredibly fortunate,” said Waxman in the opening of the government’s summation. The defendant never touched his victims, nor did he ever buy the large cooking tray, the largest cooking tray, the huge cooking tray, or the smoker grill for which he’d also searched online. He never squirreled away a coil of rope or jar of chloroform, as he said he’d do in online chats. He never built a pulley apparatus in his basement, or bought a cabin in the mountains, as he’d also claimed to his alleged co-conspirators. Yet the government saw him as a serial killer in waiting.

The fact of Valle’s failure as a kidnapper and a flesh-eater has no bearing on his guilt, of course. Some laws exist to prevent crimes before they happen, Jackson explains. As an example, he cites DUI arrests: Even if a drunken driver doesn’t end up in an accident, he puts everyone on the road at risk. The jury is left to probe the limits of this analogy—is Valle really like an inebriated motorist? A driver on the highway can be tested with a Breathalyzer: If he’s above a certain threshold, then he’s deemed a menace. But what about the sexual sadist whose mind is full of fantasy? How do you decide when those thoughts have gone too far?

That’s what makes this case so confusing and upsetting. If Valle really planned to kill his wife and friends, then he’s guilty of an enormous crime. But if he didn’t plan to kill them—if this was just intense role-playing, as his lawyers have alleged—then he is completely innocent. There’s no hazy middle ground, no legal space in which a drunken driver, for example, might be a little buzzed but not so blitzed that he’s declared a danger to society. But Gilberto Valle must be one thing or the other. He’s a monster or a martyr. There is no in-between.

The defendant shows up Thursday morning in his dark-gray suit. Right before he sits he takes a breath, puffing out his cherubic cheeks in a deep exhale. On Wednesday afternoon, as his lawyers wrapped up their modest case, Valle pinched his nose and wiped away a tear. Now his lawyer, Julia Gatto, tells the jury that his life is ruined. “He’s lost everything,” she says, and shows a photo of the officer in his uniform, holding up the baby girl that Valle’s wife has whisked away to Reno, Nev. Valle begins to cry.

Gatto’s closing claims that Valle is a decent guy who has indecent thoughts. The problem is the mooks in law enforcement who aren’t hip to S&M. Valle’s online life is nasty, she concedes. We’ve seen his porn in open court—the ultimate embarrassment for any modern man—and Valle’s stash is pretty gnarly: He’s looked at autopsy photos of women slashed and shot; scenes of people roasting on a spit; a video of a girl who’s chained at hand and foot, with a tattoo and belly-button stud, crying out as a candle-flame effect pretends to burn her crotch. “It’s gross, no dispute,” says Gatto, but “the government simply doesn’t understand what fantasy role-play is.”

She singles out FBI special agent Corey Walsh for this attack, all but calling him a square. He’s the one who went through Valle’s hard drive and testified last week. “[Walsh] didn’t understand that stories come in different forms,” Gatto says. When the agent uncovered Valle’s online chats, detailing gruesome plans to rape and kill, he split the records into piles. According to his G-man logic, 21 of 24 were fake. Though the acts described therein were violent and illegal, Valle made it clear he wasn’t serious. He negotiated prices for a kidnapping, and described how he would use chloroform and rope to carry out the crime. He posted photos of his wife and friends, and offered them for sale. But he also gave disclaimers: “No matter what I say, it’s make-believe,” Valle wrote to one fetish friend. “I just have a world in my mind,” he told another, “and in that world I am kidnapping women and selling them.”

But the remaining chats—three of them—didn’t have those all-important caveats. At one point Valle’s partner asked him, “ARE YOU REALLY RAELLY [sic] INTO IT?” Valle typed that he was. “I am just afraid of getting caught,” he said. He’d kill and eat a girl if he could.

The government cites these back-and-forths as evidence that Valle meant to carry out his plans. Gatto says that fantasists are prone to fantasizing that their fantasies are real. It’s like “dark improv theater,” she explains: If someone asks you, “Are you for real?” then you have to say “yes” or the scene is over. Valle didn’t pause to disavow his plans in these three chats, but that doesn’t prove they’re real. Over and over again in her summation, Gatto reminds the jury that “80 percent” of Valle’s chats were designated as “fantasy.” It’s a funny piece of rhetoric, since it makes it sound as though the rest might be genuine. Also, it’s inaccurate: Agent Walsh assigned 21 of 24 to the fantasy pile—88 percent.
Wizard Trivia

Jackson, the prosecutor, smacks down Gatto’s two-piles defense. It’s not surprising, he contends, that a real-life cannibalistic killer would indulge in fantasies about cannibalistic killing. “Cops watch cop movies,” he says, “and soldiers play Call of Duty.” This sounds sensible, until you remember that cannibalistic killers aren’t quite as common as cops and soldiers. All throughout the trial, the government has had to argue that Valle’s weird, cartoonish thoughts were plans for real-world action, no matter how improbable they sound. If Valle said he’d like to roast a girl on an outdoor spit with an apple in her mouth, then that’s what he was going to do.

Some of the most damning evidence against the defendant was also the most absurd. At one point, the defense convinced the judge to exclude a portion of a chat transcript in which an online friend claimed to have purchased delicious babies from drug addicts desperate for a fix. The judge agreed that this statement, made by someone other than the defendant, might so horrify the jury that Valle would himself be blamed. But couldn’t this have gone the other way? Maybe the baby-eating detail would have convinced the jury that this was nothing more than silly make-believe for cybersex.

Search terms from the defendant’s browser history might have had the same effect. When Valle entered I want to sell a girl slave into Google, was he really looking for a buyer, or had he simply given voice to thoughts inside his head? (Later on, his wife put the phrase my husband doesn’t love me into the same computer, another case of typing-what-you’re-thinking.) Valle also looked up cases of real-life abductor-murderers, and spent some time on the Huffington Post, reading an article titled “Cannibalism Can Be Addictive, Expert Says.” And in the strangest twist of the fantasy/reality conundrum, the prosecution presented evidence that Valle had searched the phrases how to abduct a girl and how to chloroform a girl on the Internet, and that he’d also viewed a 2009 blog post on Techdirt called “If You’re Kidnapping Someone, Maybe Don’t Search Google For ‘Kidnapping.’
LotWin Lottery Line Builder

Valle didn’t testify in his defense, and so he never had the chance to look the members of the jury in the eyes and tell them he’s a freak. As a self-proclaimed sexual sadist and a cop who chatted about rape and murder while sitting in his squad car, his testimony would have been too risky—Valle would have been flayed on cross-examination. So Gatto chose to feed the jury more generic facts about her client’s fetish. On Tuesday, she brought Sergey Merenkov to the stand. He’s the webmaster of a site called DarkFetishNet. It’s like an evil clone of Facebook—a social network where most of the profile pics show a woman being choked or strangled. Valle’s handle on the site was “GirlMeatHunter.”

Merenkov testified via video link from Moscow, a trim, balding 34-year-old in a black T-shirt, sitting in a leather swivel chair and sipping from an “I [heart] TEA” mug. Sexual asphyxiation is the main fetish among his site’s 4,500 active users, he explained, but cannibalism is also popular. He leaned back and gripped the chair behind his head with both hands. The site has tens of thousands of images, mostly pornographic, he continued, and these include “an ever-increasing flood of photos” of private individuals, pulled from Facebook, Flickr, or other sharing sites. Valle uploaded some of these to the site’s “What Would You Do to Her” forums.

Then Gatto calls her paralegal to the stand. A recent graduate from Barnard College, Alexandra Katz looks just like one of the girls that Valle dreamed of cooking and eating. (All of Valle’s alleged victims resemble his wife: They’re petite brunettes with long, straight hair.) To help with the defense, Katz created an account on DarkFetishNet.  She visited the site “50 to 100 times,” she says, and now she’s testifying as to how the site actually works. Gatto’s message seems to be: Even this sweet-faced college co-ed visited the site, and she’s totally OK!

It’s not clear how well the gambit works. Katz has a tendency to grin while on the stand, and she ends up seeming smug, not innocent. Still, she gives a sense of how members of the community interact. After setting up her profile, Katz received several dozen private messages. One user called “I Eat” wrote to her with the diction of a Muppet: “Would you like talk with cannibal?” he asked. She declined.
MyWealthyOptions

This is Valle’s world, the defense will argue in its closing. All he ever really did was “talk with cannibal,” and then “talk with cannibal” some more. Valle and his friends made plans to kidnap and eat women in online chats, but when the target dates that they had agreed upon arrived, nothing ever happened. Despite the details of his negotiations, Valle never met his DarkFetishNet friend from Asia in a Pakistan hotel, never had a Labor Day rendezvous with his British co-conspirator, and never drove a girl to New Jersey in exchange for $4,000. And no one who was involved in these “conspiracies” ever lamented the fact that these plans hadn’t come to fruition. They just kept on bantering as they had before.

In the final hour of the trial, the prosecutors assure the jury that the First Amendment is not at issue here. What Valle did “goes a thousand steps beyond yelling ‘fire’ in a crowded theater,” Jackson says. “His fantasies point to actual desires.” The closing statement takes a turn, and Jackson works himself into an eloquent lather of prudery and indignation. First he likens the defendant to a 9/11-style plotter who later claimed that he only fantasized about taking down a plane. Then he starts to argue that Valle’s fantasies weren’t sexual at all. “There’s no fun” in what Valle was doing, Jackson says. There’s no pleasure in it for him or you or me.

Jackson reminds the jury that Valle looked at autopsy photos, and pictures of naked girls on spits. According to the prosecution, these images “have no sexual value” at all. “This is not normal pornography for any human being,” he says. And as he did in his opening argument, Jackson reminds the members of the jury to use their “common sense.” Finally, he tells them what’s been at issue in the case from the very start. Gilberto Valle fantasizes about seeing women executed, Jackson announces to the court. “That’s not a fantasy that’s OK.”

Cannibal gang cooked victims

into meat pies & pastries

A twisted version of the saying ‘Indulging in pleasures of the flesh’

Details of a purported Brazilian cannibal gang that allegedly murdered at least five women before eating their flesh – and in some cases selling it in the form of meat pastries – have shaken the country.

Details of the incident began to trickle out after the newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo released a video on its website at the weekend.

In the video Isabel Cristina da Silva, 51, said she and her husband and his 25-year-old girlfriend had eaten 10 kilograms of human flesh over the course of five days in the city of Garanhuns.

The procedure was part of a purification ritual for a sect to which they belonged, identified as Cartel.

The trio also apparently took some of the meat and cooked it into meat pastries which they sold on the street.

Investigators, who tracked the group down in the course of a missing persons case, said they had found buried human remains on the property where the three lived. The group was arrested on Friday.

The five-year-old daughter of one of the alleged victims was also found at the home, according to media reports.

Da Silva’s husband has reportedly written a book, Revelations of a Schizophrenic, in which he details how he kills a woman and eats her flesh.

SERIAL KILLER PROFILES ON TEN OF THE TOP FEMALE EVIL DOERS THROUGHOUT HISTORY.Women of death.

There is a tendency for us to delegate evil deeds to the male of the species and forget that females have played & do also play their part as evil doers.Perhaps here we can see some of these wicked women over the years who have been serial killers and caused grief, injury, tragedy and death to many persons in various communities, towns and countries throughout history

1. Elizabeth Bathory

Born: 1560; Died: 1614

Elizabeth Bathory was one of the most evil women in human history. She slaughtered & butchered at least 80 young women (though some witnesses claimed the number was closer to 650) and has the rather unfortunate reputation as being the world’s first known female serial killer. Because of her gruesome crimes many misconceptions have arisen about her – here we look at the most prominent.

The myth: Elizabeth Bathory bathed in the blood of her victims

They tied the hands and arms very tightly with Viennese cord, they were beaten to death until the whole body was black as charcoal and their skin was rent and torn. One girl suffered more than two hundred blows before dying. Dorko [another accomplice and procurer] cut their fingers one by one with shears and then slit the veins with scissors. — Ficzko (Servant of Bathory)

Elizabeth Bathory (7 August 1560 – 21 August 1614) certainly was one of the most prolific and heinous murderers in history, but because of the scarcity of such horrific crimes during the Middle Ages, her infamy was so great the rumors, misconceptions, and myths grew to surround her. Aside from the misconception that she killed 650 young women when in reality it was between 80 – 300, the most well known is that she bathed in the blood of her victims to give & maintain her youthful appearance.

This is completely untrue; it is a myth that arose due to embellishments of her actions by story-tellers who came after her death. Nevertheless, Bathory committed some of the most shocking and vile acts against her victims. The list of her crimes is quite extensive (and well documented through the trial of her helpers) and it includes such depraved excesses as: burning or freezing to death, mutilation, attempted surgeries, sexual abuse, and starvation.

Amazingly Bathory was never tried for her crimes though she was compelled to remain walled up in her castle. She remained there until she died four years later. The reason for her evading prosecution was that it would cause scandal to the ruling family of Hungary and the crown would be compelled to seize all of Bathory’s land and belongings – leaving her children peniless. Furthermore, the King (King Matthias) owed her a great deal of money and the debt was written off as “punishment”. Three of the servants who helped her with her killing spree were given a trial and found guilty. They were executed by having their fingers ripped off before being burnt to death at the stake.

Prime example for the return of capital punishment one could argue for other hideous crimes in the 21st century

Interesting Fact: Historian László Nagy has argued that Elizabeth Báthory was a victim of a conspiracy. Nagy argued that the proceedings were largely politically motivated. The conspiracy theory is consistent with Hungarian history at that time. There was great conflict between religions, including Protestant ones, and this was related to the extension of Habsburg power over Hungary. As a Transylvanian Protestant aristocrat, Elizabeth belonged to a group generally opposed to the Habsburgs.

2. Queen Mary I

Born: 1516; Died: 1558

Mary was the only child of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, plus the only one to live past infancy. Crowned after the death of Edward VI and the removal of The Nine Days Queen-Lady Jane Grey, Mary is chiefly remembered for temporarily and violently returning England to Catholicism. Many prominent Protestants were executed for their beliefs leading to the ‘ nickname’ moniker “Bloody Mary”. Fearing the gallows many Protestants left the country, unwilling to return until her death or removal. It should be noted that Elizabeth Ist  also shares a position on this list for her equally bad reputation.

3. Isabella of Castile

Born: 1451; Died: 1504

Isabella I of Spain, well remembered & known as the patron of Christopher Columbus, with her husband Ferdinand II of Aragon, together are responsible for making possible the unification of Spanish interests under their grandson Carlos I. As part of the drive for unification, Isabella appointed Tomás de Torquemada as the first Inquisitor General of the inquisition. March 31, 1492 marks the implementation of the Alhambra Decree; expulsion edicts forcing the removal or conversion of Jews and Muslims. Roughly 200,000 people left Spain; those remaining who chose conversion were subsequently persecuted by the inquisition investigating Judaizing conversos. In 1974, Pope Paul VI opened her cause for beatification. This places her on the path toward possible sainthood. In the Catholic Church, she is thus titled Servant of God.

4. Katherine Knight

Born: 1956

The first ever Australian woman to be sentenced to a natural life term imprisonment  without parole, Katherine Knight had a history of extreme violence in relationships. She smashed the dentures of one of her ex-husbands and slashed the throat of another husband’s eight-week-old puppy before his eyes. A heated relationship she was in with John Charles Thomas Price became public knowledge with an Apprehended Violence Order that Price had filed against Knight and ended with Knight stabbing Price to death with a large  butcher’s knife. He had been stabbed at least 37 times, both front and back, with many of the wounds penetrating vital organs. She then skinned him and hung his “suit” from the door frame in the living room, cut off his head and put it in the soup pot, baked his buttocks, and prepared gravy and vegetables to accompany the ‘roast’. The meal and a sarcastic note were set out for the children, luckily discovered by police before they arrived home.

5. Irma Grese

Born: 1923; Died: 1945

Another product of the Nazi’s final solution, Irma Grese or the “Bitch of Belsen” was a guard at concentration camps Ravensbrück, Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen. Transferred to Auschwitz in 1943, (she must have shown particular enthusiasm and dedication to the job), she was promoted to Senior Supervisor, the 2nd highest ranking female in camp, by the end of the year. In charge of over 30,000 Jewish female prisoners, she reveled in her work. Her work included; savaging of prisoners by her trained and half starved dogs, sexual excesses, arbitrary shootings, sadistic beatings with a plaited whip, and selecting prisoners for the gas chamber. She enjoyed both physical and emotional torture and habitually wore heavy boots and carried a pistol to facilitate both.

6. Ilse Koch

Born: 1906; Died: 1967

This female war criminal of concentration camp attrocites “Die Hexe von Buchenwald” the Witch of Buchenwald, or “Buchenwälder Schlampe” the Bitch of Buchenwald was the wife of Karl Koch, commandant of the concentration camps Buchenwald from 1937 to 1941, and Majdanek from 1941 to 1943. Intoxicated on the absolute power rendered by her husband, she reveled in torture and obscenity of the worst kind. Infamous for her souvenirs; tattoos taken from the murdered inmates, her reputation for debauchery was well earned. After building an indoor sports arena in 1940, with 250,000 marks stolen from inmates, Ilsa was promoted to Oberaufseherin or “chief overseer” of the few female guards at Buchenwald. She committed suicide by hanging herself at Aichach women’s prison on September 1, 1967. A deranged and sickly woman.

7. Mary Ann Cotton

Born: 1832; Died: 1873

This poisoning Englishwoman Mary Ann Cotton is another for-profit serial killer, predating Belle Gunnes by thirty years. Married at age twenty to William Mowbray, the newlyweds settled in Plymouth, Devon, to start their family. The couple had five children, four of whom died of ‘gastric fever and stomach pains’. Moving back to the north-east, tragedy seemed to pursue them; three more children born, & yes three more children died. Husband William soon followed his offspring, dying of an ‘intestinal disorder’ in January 1865. British Prudential promptly paid a 35 pound insurance payout dividend, and a pattern was established. Her second husband, George Ward, died of intestinal problems as well as one of her two remaining children. The power of the press, always a force to be reckoned with, caught up with Mary Ann. The local newspapers discovered that as Mary Ann moved around northern England, she lost three husbands, a lover, a friend, her mother and a dozen children, all dying of stomach fever. She was hanged at Durham County Gaol, March 24, 1873, for murder by arsenic poisoning. She died slowly, the hangman using too short a drop for a ‘clean’ execution.Too bad, soo… sad!!

8. Belle Gunness

Born: 1859; Died: 1931

Belle Gunness was one of America’s most degenerate and productive female serial killers. Standing 6 ft (1.83 m) tall and weighing in at over 200 lbs (91 kg), she was an imposing and powerful woman of Norwegian descent. It is likely that she killed both her husbands and all of her children at different times, but it is certain that she murdered most of her suitors, boyfriends, and her two daughters, Myrtle and Lucy. The motive was greed-pure and simple; life insurance policies and assets stolen or swindled from her suitors became her source of income. Most reports put her death toll at more than twenty victims over several decades, with some claiming in excess of one hundred. Inconsistencies during her post mortem examination; the corpse was reported to be two inches shorter than Belle’s six feet, paved the way for Belle Gunnes to enter American criminal folklore, a female Bluebeard.

9. Beverly Allitt

Born: 1968

The nurse “Angel of Death, Beverley Gail Allit, is one of Britain’s most well known serial killers. Working as a pediatric nurse, she is responsible for the murder of 4 children and the serious injury of 5 others in her care. When available, insulin or potassium injections were used to precipitate cardiac arrest; smothering sufficed when they were not. Although convicted with death or injury in nine cases, Allit attacked thirteen children over a fifty-eight day period before being caught red-handed. Allit has never spoken of the motive for her crimes, but Munchausen’s Syndrome by Proxy explains her actions. This debatable personality disorder involves a pattern of abuse or harm to someone in your care in order to garner attention (Alitt was known as a child to wear bandages and casts over wounds, but would not allow them to be examined). Notice me , I have injuries and need attention.

10. Myra Hindley

Born: 1942; Died: 2002

The Moors Murders couple Myra Hindley and Ian Brady were responsible for the “Moors murders” happening in the Manchester area of Britain in the mid 1960’s. Together these two monsters were responsible for the kidnapping, sexual abuse, torture and murder of three children under the age of twelve and two teenagers, aged 16 and 17. A key for a lock found in Myra’s possession led to incriminating evidence stored at a left-luggage depot at Manchester Central Station. The evidence included a tape recording of one of the murder victims screaming as Hindley and Brady raped and tortured her. In the final days before incarceration, she developed a swagger and arrogant attitude that became her trademark. Police secretary Sandra Wilkinson has never forgotten seeing Hindley and her mother Nellie, leaning against the courthouse eating sweets. While the mother was obviously and understandably upset, Hindley seemed indifferent and uncaring of her situation.

Guilty … a police officer takes off the handcuffs of defendant Jan O, whose face has been blurred in accordance with German law. Photo: AFP

A German court has ruled that a 26-year-old man who murdered two teenagers, chewing on parts of one of them and drinking her blood, will never be free again.

Jan O, dubbed the “Cannibal Killer”, was given a life sentence by the court in Goettingen, central Germany.

He will be sent to a psychiatric unit and will never be released because of the danger he posed to the public.

The defendant had admitted to strangling 14-year-old Nina last November, drinking her blood and chewing bits of flesh from her neck in order, the court found, to “satisfy his sexual desires”.

Five days later he strangled 13-year-old Tobias when the boy stumbled across Nina’s body in woodland. He initially thought the boy was a girl because of his long hair.

Presiding judge Ralf Guenther said that the alcoholic and drug addict had committed “unimagineable crimes, taking a daughter from her mother and a son from his parents.”
