A second person has been arrested over the alleged attempted murder of a man outside a north-western Sydney sex club.

The 29-year-old man was stopped by officers from the Middle Eastern crime squad as he drove down Colechin Street at Yagoona at 9.30am on Thursday.

Witnesses said officers jumped out of unmarked police cars with their guns drawn and stopped the man driving an Audi four-wheel-drive. It is alleged that detectives also found ammunition and balaclavas inside the vehicle.

He was arrested and taken to Bankstown police station where he is being questioned over the May 1 shooting of a 52-year-old man outside Aarows, a 24-hour ”gay and social club” at Rydalmere

The victim was shot seven times and wounded in the groin, back and leg after being ambushed in the car park of the club about 1am.

The victim spent considerable time in hospital recuperating.

Police are also speaking to the 29-year-old about a shooting outside a kebab shop on the Cumberland Highway at Smithfield at 10pm on July 25. The 41-year-old victim was shot once in the leg.

On Tuesday, police arrested Milad Bin Ahmad-Shah Al-Ahmadzai, 23, at Goulburn and charged him with shooting with intent to murder, discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and stealing a motor vehicle in relation to the Rydalmere incident. Al-Ahmadzai was already in custody when arrested.

The 23-year-old did not apply for bail during Tuesday’s hearing and it was formally refused. The matter returns to court on November 28.
